CJ (Steven Yu)

I'm a Frontend Lead and software engineer based in Taiwan. I lead a team of three frontend developers at CreatorDB and have built production software across creator analytics, restaurant SaaS, digital publishing, and independent client work.

Min Content is my independent studio. This site is its technical publication: a place for ideas, notes, code, books, and everything worth keeping—without the unnecessary. The studio name is inspired by the CSS value min-content: make complex ideas easier to understand without removing the details that make them useful. My articles connect first principles with decisions and trade-offs from real product work.

Minimal. Meaningful. Everything essential.

CreatorDB

Frontend Lead · In-house SaaS

Lead a team of three frontend developers building a creator discovery and analytics platform for brands and marketers. The work includes creator search, analytics profiles, campaign workflows, API tools, and a Manifest V3 extension that surfaces CreatorDB data on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

Independent work

Freelance Web Developer

Built websites for clients as an independent developer. One representative project is the PyroImage visual journalism platform: I implemented the Next.js frontend and Sanity editorial system in collaboration with a designer, integrated Numbers Protocol media, and migrated the publication from Wix while preserving existing URLs.

iCHEF

Senior Frontend Engineer · In-house SaaS

Built restaurant management products, including cross-store operations and a new design system. Worked with product managers, designers, QA, and backend engineers to deliver and maintain production features used by restaurant businesses.

The Reporter 報導者

Software Engineer · In-house product team

Built digital publishing systems for an independent newsroom, including interactive journalism, data visualizations, the donation platform, the main publication website, and its newsroom CMS.

What I write about

I focus on JavaScript, TypeScript, React, web architecture, security, and AI-assisted development. The goal is not to repeat API documentation, but to explain the model behind a problem, the constraints that matter in production, and how to choose an approach you can defend and maintain.
